Job Description

Lockheed Martin Enterprise Business & Digital Transformation (EBDT)is looking for an experienced IT Observability Architect to lead the design and deployment of a comprehensive IT observability strategy. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in IT operations, application and infrastructure performance, and monitoring, and can translate technology into measurable business outcomes.

As a member of the Business Enablement and Resiliency directorate, you will implement and evolve an end-to-end observability solution that spans applications, infrastructure, and networks across unclassified and classified environments. You will partner with cross-functional Enterprise Business Digital Transformation (EBDT) teams to ensure observability capabilities are tightly aligned with business objectives and support the delivery of high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities
Design and implement real-time observability solutions that deliver visibility into the health, performance, and behavior of applications, infrastructure, and network resources.
Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the EBDT technology stack and the inter-dependencies among its components.
Engage stakeholders to gather, prioritize, and translate observability requirements into practical solutions.
Ensure seamless integration of observability tools with existing IT service-management processes.
Select and oversee the lifecycle of observability platforms and tooling.
Define, enforce, and evolve telemetry standards across the organization.
Produce and maintain clear documentation of observability architectures, designs, and implementations.
Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in the observability space and apply that our capabilities.

This position is remote, as part of a geographically-dispersed team. Preference will be given to candidates who are within 50 miles of a major Lockheed Martin facility.

Basic Qualifications

8+ years of experience in IT, with a focus on observability, monitoring, or related fields
Strong understanding of IT operations, application performance, and infrastructure monitoring and their relationship to business objectives
Experience designing IT observability solutions for large, distributed enterprises leveraging observability tools such as Dynatrace, and IT service management platforms, such as ServiceNow
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop creative solutions
Ability to oversee and mentor a team of engineers to instantiate and continually improve capabilities in support of the observability vision

Desired skills

Familiarity with Lockheed Martin's IT Observability strategy
Experience with Dynatrace, including configuration, customization, and optimization
Experience with ServiceNow, including IT service management, configuration management, and service mapping
Knowledge of cloud-based observability platforms, such as AWS CloudWatch or Google Cloud Monitoring
Experience with containerization technologies, such as Docker, and orchestration tools, such as Kubernetes
Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, and load balancing
Active Top Secret clearance or ability to obtain one within six months of hire
Certification in ITIL, TOGAF, or related frameworks

Ability to work remotely

Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $134,000 - $236,325. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement
