Job Title: Data Developer
Duration: 1 Month (Tentative)
Location: Boston, MA (Onsite)

Job Summary:

A public sector organization is seeking a skilled Data Developer to support the launch of an in-house SQL Server-based operational data store, designed to centralize and streamline the analysis of procurement data. The new Performance Analytics and Reporting Information System (PARIS) will consolidate multiple procurement systems into a single source of truth, enabling enhanced visibility into vendor and buyer activities across Statewide Contracts.

This is a short-term but critical role, ideal for a developer with a strong background in SQL Server, data integration, and system optimization. The developer will work closely with a data management team to build out database architecture, support ETL processes, and ensure clean, consistent data integration from key procurement systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build SQL tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and triggers to support analytics and business logic

  • Develop and optimize ETL processes for data integration from internal and external sources

  • Create and maintain data pipelines to support automated data movement between systems

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define data validation rules and implement quality control mechanisms

  • Track technical performance metrics and suggest process improvements

  • Align development activities with established data management guidelines and standards

  • Implement best practices in indexing, partitioning, and query tuning to improve performance

  • Translate functional business requirements into clear, scalable technical designs

  • Manage and maintain database models and schemas

  • Document integration processes, data structures, and related workflows for transparency and knowledge transfer

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in SQL Server database development and optimization

  • Expertise in writing efficient SQL code (procedures, functions, triggers)

  • Strong experience with data extraction, reporting, and manipulation (Excel, CSV, etc.)

  • Proficiency in data modeling and building ETL/integration solutions

  • Experience with building and managing data pipelines

  • Familiarity with data validation techniques and enforcing data quality

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with public sector or procurement-related data systems

  • Familiarity with Qlik and Microsoft Power BI

  • Background in data governance or process standardization

  • Knowledge of organizational data management policies and best practices
