Responsibilities
- Under direct supervision, installs and maintains operating and systems software, manages systems configuration, monitors compliance with system standards, evaluates software and/or hardware, administers and maintains user accounts and profiles, and performs operating system troubleshooting.
- Administers, develops, runs tests, implements, and maintains operating system and related software.
- Establishes and implements standards for computer operations for compatibility between hardware and software, according to specifications and parameters.
- Troubleshoots and resolves software, operating system, and networking problems.
- Schedules, performs, and monitors system backups and performs data recoveries.
- Recommends hardware and software upgrades according to growth statistics and disk space forecasts.
- Provides technical support for system users.
- Performs work under direct supervision.
- Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience:
- Baccalaureate Degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, or Network Engineering and a minimum of three (3) years of system administration experience is required, OR
- Certificate from an accredited Community or Technical College in System Administration and five (5) years of system administration experience is required.
- A current System Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) or Security+ certification is required.
- Additional specific information assurance certification requirements may be required at the task order level.
- Active Secret clearance (or able to obtain and maintain one).
- Ability to travel up to 25% as needed.
Desired Qualification:
- Experience with Coast Guard systems.
