Job Title: Machinist

Science, Engineering, Management Solutions LLC (Sem-Sol) is a small business in Albuquerque, NM The company consists of skilled scientists, engineers and technicians that specialize in directed energy and pulsed power systems.

Sem-Sol is seeking a Machinist who has the character and skills required to expand our capacity to meet our customers demands. We need a machinist with experience machining for prototype and design work. We also need a machinist with:

Duties will include:

• Set up machine shop(s) as necessary to allow for generation of internal machined parts.
• Set up and operate all conventional and most precision and CNC machine tools to manufacture parts and assemblies.
• Perform shop calculations utilizing intermediate knowledge of material characteristics to determine optimum feeds, speeds, and dimensions.
• Perform shop math calculations utilizing intermediate knowledge of material characteristics to achieve required finishes, dimensions, and overall design intent.
• Technical problem solving for complex issues to meet requirements.
• Safely operate related shop equipment, hand tools, and measuring instruments.
• Design and fabricate fixtures and jigs to be used during a variety of manufacturing processes.
• Establish and plan techniques and procedures to carry out technical assignments and set task priorities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• Demonstrated experience meeting schedules and deadlines
• Ability to identify, analyze, and provide solutions or alternate approaches to manufacturing problems using individual judgment and creativity
• Intermediate knowledge of ASME Y14.5M drafting standards (read and interpret blueprints) to produce parts and assemblies
• Intermediate level knowledge of CNC programming, machining, and planning
• Understanding of safety awareness and safe working practices
• Ability to become medically qualified to wear respiratory and protection equipment
• Effective verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate tactfully and effectively in a technical environment
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and MS Outlook
• Strong attention to detail
• Willingness to take direction and perform all activities assigned

Desired Skills/Experience/Qualifications:

• BS or 2-year degree in related field
• Internal or external customer service interaction experience
• Familiarity with Solidworks
