This role requires strong knowledge of wireless standards (802.11/IEEE) and networking fundamentals. The ideal candidate will have a testing background, hands-on troubleshooting capabilities, and the flexibility to travel for on-site lab testing.
Responsibilities:
* Execute validation testing of Wi-Fi products end-to-end across 20+ proprietary systems
* Build and test code
* Perform troubleshooting and support for wireless and networking-related issues, including log analysis via Splunk
* Create, execute, and maintain test plans and test cases using tools like TestRail and QMetry
* Collaborate with engineers to re-validate test results after travel-based testing is complete
* Participate in test planning meetings, new project reviews, and cross-functional troubleshooting calls
* Travel up to 2 consecutive weeks to lab sites (e.g., Reno, Cheyenne, Austin, St. Louis), performing on-site testing
* Perform occasional overnight testing in production environments (rare - approximately once per year)
* Coordinate with multiple engineering teams to align testing timelines and prepare for production validation
REQUIREMENTS:
* 3+ years of hands-on experience in wireless testing, networking, or validation engineering
* Strong understanding of wireless technologies including 802.11 standards and IEEE protocols
* Familiarity with network engineering concepts (routing, switching, IP/DNS/DHCP, etc.)
* Experience in test case development, validation planning, and executing comprehensive test strategies
* Proficiency in log analysis using Splunk
* Ability to work in lab environments and conduct structured, rigorous testing cycles
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work across cross-functional teams
* Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 2-3 weeks at a time) with advanced notice
Preferred Skills
* Prior experience working with Plume cloud platforms
* Background in large-scale telecom or wireless product environments
* Familiarity with Agile workflows and test management tools such as TestRail and QMetry
* Experience with troubleshooting production systems in a collaborative setting
