Job Description:

SAP Project Manager

Location: hybrid onsite in Downer's Grove, IL

Duration: long-term contract with potential to convert

Candidates must be able to work on Apex's W2 without sponsorship both now and in the future.

There are no C2C or 1099 options.

We are seeking an SAP Project Manager that will lead the planning and execution of a Global SAP Public Cloud ERP implementation. This PM will be responsible for managing cross-functional teams, aligning project goals with business strategy, and ensuring successful delivery across all phases of the project lifecycle. This role requires deep SAP ERP project management expertise, strong leadership, and a proven track record of delivering SAP ERP projects on time and within budget.

Duties
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of SAP ERP implementation projects, including planning, execution, and post-go-live support.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, budgets, timelines, and resource allocations.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and success criteria.
  • Oversee integration of SAP modules with legacy systems and third-party applications.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, resolve issues, and ensure quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage ERP Systems Integrator relationships and deliverables
  • Provide leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams including IT, Finance, Supply Chain, HR, and Operations.
  • Ensure alignment with PMO standards, governance, and reporting practices.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and milestones to executive leadership and stakeholders.
  • Oversee data migration planning, execution, and validation across legacy and SAP systems.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory standards during ERP implementation.
  • Lead cutover planning and execution, ensuring a smooth transition to the new SAP environment.
  • Support post-implementation stabilization and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with finance, operations, and IT leadership to align ERP capabilities with strategic business goals.
  • Manage project financials, including forecasting, cost tracking, and variance analysis.
  • Conduct executive steering committee meetings and provide strategic insights on project health and risks.


Qualifications
  • 10+ years?of project management experience, with?7+ years?leading?SAP ERP implementations.
  • Bachelors degree in business, engineering, information technology, or a related field is required
  • PMP, PMI-ACP, or SAP certification?strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar ERP projects in a matrixed or global environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and leading an SAP Public Cloud implementation from initiation to completion.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Smartsheet, Azure DevOps)
  • Experience with Agile and traditional waterfall project management methodologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Prior relevant professional / consulting experience required
  • Ability to travel as needed and work flexible hours during critical project phases.
