Solutions Engineering Architect

About your role:
At the core, FTS believes in the value of partnering with our business units for their success by establishing close working relationships and proposing solutions that enable them to meet their objectives and strategic initiatives. The Solutions Engineering Architect must be skilled in enterprise-level infrastructure products, technologies, and services to design and deliver appropriate enterprise solutions successfully. You will hold the reins to the architecture while ensuring the applications teams have the appropriate server configuration, storage parameters and network framework.

What you'll do:

  • Perform comprehensive discovery analysis and definition of project requests and issues.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams to design and implement highly available infrastructures.
  • Collaborate across business and technical disciplines to develop Infrastructure/System Engineering Designs.
  • Provide cost estimation for both CapEx and OpEx of infrastructure servers and hardware.
  • Manage the application container and provide technical leadership to ensure projects are delivered within scope and on time.
  • Produce high quality operational documentation, including Visio diagrams, high-level descriptions of the environment, as well as detailed instructions outlining the steps required to repeat the build-out and configuration of the infrastructure.
  • Develop scripts for repeatable processes (e.g., Bash, Ansible, Perl).
  • Ensure collaboration with Development, Project Management, and other Infrastructure teams.


Experience you'll need to have:

  • 10+ years of experience engineering tier-3 architecture for enterprise level applications & systems.
  • 8+ years of experience in Windows and Linux Administration (Red Hat or Oracle Preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience designing, implementing, and managing solutions using Java Middleware (e.g., Jboss EAP, WebLogic, WebSphere).
  • 8+ years of experience in infrastructure design and delivery.
  • 6+ years of experience with VMware, vxRail, vRealize Orchestrator.
  • 6+ years of experience with DNS, Firewall rules, and SSL Certificates.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business and/or equivalent military experience.


Experience that would be great to have:

  • Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.
  • Experience working on matrix teams consisting of a variety of Infrastructure Engineering groups.
  • Experience with High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions.


How you'll work:

  • This role requires being on-call during non-standard and/or overnight hours on a rotational basis.
  • This role requires use of a computer and audio equipment.
  • Less than 15% travel required.

Salary Range

$146,000.00 - $244,800.00

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey, New York and California. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
