Job Title: Desktop Support Technician
Reports To: IT Support Lead or Director of Technology
Primary Location: Chicago, IL (with support across Kansas City, St. Louis, and other markets as needed)

Position Summary

CIMA Consulting Group seeks a reliable and detail-oriented Desktop Support Technician to provide direct, hands-on support for end-user technology and select building systems. This role involves setting up and maintaining desktops, laptops, and mobile devices, as well as basic support for AV, security cameras, and access control hardware. The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting skills, a customer-first mindset, and a willingness to learn and support a range of systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and configure desktops, laptops, and mobile devices for new and existing employees
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and peripheral issues, including printers and monitors
  • Install and maintain standard software packages (Windows OS, Microsoft Office, etc.)
  • Manage imaging and device deployment using tools like Autopilot or equivalent
  • Provide on-site support for conference room AV systems and amenity space technology
  • Perform basic maintenance and reboots for security cameras, monitors, and NVRs
  • Support physical troubleshooting of access control hardware (e.g., badge readers, door strikes)
  • Coordinate with IT and security vendors for escalations or equipment servicing
  • Accurately document Helpdesk ticket resolutions and technical issues
  • Track IT assets, hardware deployments, and inventory status
  • Troubleshoot Wi-Fi and local network connectivity issues at the desktop level
  • Ensure excellent customer service and clear communication during all support interactions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 1 3 years of experience in desktop support, technical support, or field service
  • High school diploma required; technical certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar) preferred
  • Working knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Microsoft Office applications
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts, including IP addressing and Wi-Fi connectivity
  • Experience supporting AV equipment, surveillance systems, or access control is a plus
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to lift and install IT and low-voltage equipment (up to 50 lbs)
  • Valid driver s license and reliable vehicle required; must be able to travel locally as needed
