Job Title: IT Security Specialist I

Location: Detroit, MI

Duration: 8 Months

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the configuration, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of a DSPM Solution.
  • Partners with engineering and architecture for deployment, troubleshooting and continuous improvement of enterprise Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Data Classification, Data Security Posture Management (DSPM), Insider Risk, and CASB technologies.
  • Administer, optimize and manage policy development, rule tuning, and platform configuration across a DSPM tool.
  • Monitor DSPM system health, performance, and alerts, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Support the creation, modification, and tuning of Data in Motion and Data at Rest policies to align with business and security requirements.
  • Deep understanding and hands on experience with core data protection functions: classification, discovery, encryption, masking, anomaly detection.
  • Analyze sensitive data flows, identify exposure and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in the testing and validation of new Data Security rules and features.
  • Proven experience configuring and deploying DSPM/DLP/CASB Threat policies to enhance data security and data privacy efforts and reduce organizational risk.
  • Identify security gaps in business processes involving sensitive data and lead remediation planning.
  • Document procedures, playbooks, detection logic, and architectural decisions for long-term maintainability.
  • Expertise in building scalable data protection infrastructures aligned with strategic program goals.
  • Experience defining metrics to measure security program effectiveness and risk reduction.
  • Learns and applies standard Security principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Passion for safeguarding sensitive and confidential information.
  • Adept at aligning business needs with technical security solutions.
  • Works under direct supervision and receives detailed instructions on all work.
  • Assists in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues. Working knowledge of network and web security.
  • Maintains awareness of industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and security standards.

Experience:

  • 5 years of IT and security work experience with a broad range of exposure to systems analysis, application development, systems administration and 2 years of experience with IT security required.
  • In-depth knowledge of security issues, techniques and implications across all existing computer platforms required.
  • Experience designing and implementing security solutions.
  • A high proficiency level in specific job-related skills is required.
  • Information Security certification preferred - Security Certification (i.e., Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)).

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with endpoint security, network security, or cloud security concepts.
  • Basic understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux) and networking fundamentals.
  • Exposure to DSPM technology.
  • Basic scripting or automation knowledge (e.g., PowerShell, Python) is a plus.
  • Experience with database management systems like Oracle, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Deep knowledge in database design, development, and administration.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
