Job Description Summary
The Engineering Technician provides support in tool repair, tooling fabrications and tooling modifications supports Engineering team with production machine setups as necessary for the operation of the component repair business.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

Read part drawings and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)

Review CAD models of components and determine required CNC machine setups to efficiently fabricate components using CNC equipment

Utilizes knowledge of various machine equipment, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete essential and necessary projects

Makes final sketch of proposed drawing, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relationship of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure of project

Is responsible for presenting statistical data to substantiate work performed

Uses computer-aided design & CAM software in NX, Mastercam to develop CNC programs to fabricate requested tooling and tooling components

Uses precise measurement equipment to perform tool repair on fixtures Uses manual precision machining & surface grinding equipment to meet critical tooling dimensional requirements

Maintains work area housekeeping and assist in department/team housekeeping efforts

Adheres to and follow all safety procedures, i.e., lock-out/tag-out; report safety concerns, use appropriate PPE as required, and follow all safety practices

Assists with training of associates and operators, supports Engineering team with production machine setups

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, Associate Degree in Manufacturing Technology (or related field) with 2 yrs experience, or 8 years of manufacturing/fabrication experience

Experience in CNC Setups & CAM Software Programming

Working knowledge of CAD/CAM Software Mastercam, Nx, or similar CAM Programming software Willing and able to work overtime and any shift

Requires the ability to read, write, and speak the English language: interpret and follow written procedures, i.e. AWI (Aviation Work Instructions), etc., complete documentation, i.e. routers, etc., and follow verbal instructions

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Must pass physical, background, and drug screens

Desired Characteristics:

Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously

Effective problem identification, solution skills and analytical ability

Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills

Familiarity with equipment such as CNC Machines, Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM), mill, and surface grinders

Proven experience and willingness to be self-directed and identify improvement processes.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
