Job Details

Info Security Specialist III (Cryptography)

Duration: 6+ months

Location: Remote (Chicago, IL)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines: Validates, authorizes, and implements requests for user access adds, changes, and deletes.
  2. Works with internal customers to identify and resolve special requests for nonstandard or urgent access.
  3. Works with internal customers to identify resource requirements and set completion targets.
  4. Works with internal customers in developing solutions impacting security (e.g. server moves, server cleanups, system changes such as upgrades to new operating systems, etc.).
  5. Documents information security processes.
  6. Works on special projects such as new designs and system rollouts.
  7. Stays up to date on trends and developments within functional area of expertise and the insurance industry.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  1. In-depth knowledge of NT, Novell, mainframe, ACF/2, UNIX, Windows 2000, etc.
  2. Strong interpersonal, communication and consultative skills to work effectively with internal business partners and IT staff.
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
  4. Ability to make independent judgements and make sound business decisions.
  5. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software systems.

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
  2. Typically, a minimum of 4 years of experience in security aspects of multiple platforms, operating systems, software communications and network protocols.
  3. Previous help desk experience desirable.
  4. Applicable certifications preferred.
