Workday Canadian Payroll Lead
Location: Remote (Canada or Canada-aligned)

Overview

The Workday Canadian Payroll Lead will act as the lead consultant for the Payroll workstream on an enterprise Workday deployment. This is a hands-on configuration role, not just governance or oversight. You'll be expected to work independently at a lead level, advise the customer, and drive build, testing, and deployment readiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead configuration and deployment activities for Workday Canadian Payroll.
  • Configure core payroll components including earnings, deductions, taxable benefits, taxes, garnishments, union rules, and payroll accounting.
  • Advise on Canadian payroll compliance and statutory requirements.
  • Work directly with customer stakeholders to gather requirements, validate payroll design, and drive decisions.
  • Support test cycles (including parallel payroll runs) and resolve payroll defects.
  • Provide practical guidance on payroll operations, readiness, and transition to steady state.
  • Produce and maintain documentation including configuration workbooks, testing evidence, issue logs, and decision tracking.
  • Communicate status, risks, and issues clearly to the project team.

Qualifications
  • Hands-on Workday Canadian Payroll configuration experience in an end-to-end deployment (preferred: recent go-live experience).
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll regulatory and statutory requirements (taxes, garnishments, statutory deductions, taxable benefits, etc.).
  • Experience with payroll accounting and payroll processing in Workday.
  • Ability to work independently as the Payroll lead/workstream owner.
  • Experience supporting union/collective bargaining agreement requirements.
  • Strong communication skills in customer-facing project environments.
  • Workday Canadian Payroll certification required/preferred (align with your internal rule).
  • Experience with Launch / Launch Express / accelerated deployment approaches is an asset.
