Employment Type: Contract (6 Months, Possible Extension)
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Business Systems Analyst with expertise in Canadian Payroll and Human Capital Management (HCM) systems to support Payroll Integration (PI) product expansion in Canada. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on payroll experience, a strong analytical mindset, and deep knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, compliance, and system configurations.

Title: Canadian Payroll Business Systems Analyst
Location: Alpharetta, GA

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Business Systems Analyst with expertise in Canadian Payroll and Human Capital Management (HCM) systems to support Payroll Integration (PI) product expansion in Canada. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on payroll experience, a strong analytical mindset, and deep knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, compliance, and system configurations.
Key Responsibilities:
Canadian Payroll Expertise
- Provide expertise in Canadian payroll operations, earnings, deductions, taxability rules, remittances, and compliance.
- Research and interpret Canadian payroll legislation to define system requirements and payroll engine configurations.
- Analyze and compare internal and external payroll solutions in the Canadian market.
- Assist in configuring and testing payroll components for Canadian statutory policies and business rules.
Business Analysis & Documentation
- Act as a Business Systems Analyst, using Specification by Example (SBE) methodologies to validate functional requirements.
- Collaborate with product owners to translate business needs into user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Document system analysis deliverables, including user stories, workflows, and configuration requirements for design, development, and testing.
System Design & Testing
- Develop and present design alternatives for payroll features and enhancements.
- Define functional test scenarios and automated end-to-end test cases.
- Participate in system walkthroughs and formal reviews to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Continuous Learning & Collaboration
- Stay updated on Canadian payroll legislation and evolving industry practices.
- Engage in team discussions, product reviews, and solution architecture planning.
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum Requirements:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience working with Canadian Payroll and HCM systems.
- Strong understanding of Canadian payroll compliance, including CRA regulations, provincial rules, and year-end processing.
- Experience in payroll system configurations and statutory/business policy definitions.
- Excellent business analysis skills, with the ability to document and communicate complex concepts.
- Experience in automated testing frameworks and writing test cases.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) certification (PCP or PLP).
- Familiarity with cloud-based payroll platforms (Workday, SAP, Ceridian, ADP).
- Experience working in agile environments with cross-functional teams.
Team & Work Environment:
- Team Size: 26 developers, 3 product owners, 2 BSAs (this will be the third), with plans to expand further.
- Project Scope: Building payroll integration solutions from the ground up with a techno-functional focus.
