Description: Senior Program Manager

As the Senior Consultant Program Manager, you will be responsible for managing pharmaceutical industry programs and projects of varying scopes from inception to completion, while interacting with IT and Business users. This particular opportunity will be responsible for managing an Program level IT Integration workstream for Mergers and Acquisitions efforts.

Successful candidates will manage and/or participate in the following types of engagements for our clients:
Program management across multiple work streams in business and technology initiatives
Project and/or program health assessments with recommendations for recovery and course correction
Project and program governance, processes, procedures, and best practice planning and execution

Key Responsibilities
Directly interface with key stakeholders within the domain and across AbbVie R&D to build alignment around project objectives and ensure a harmonized end-to-end portfolio/project management approach.
Project and Program management - Encompassing initiation, planning, execution and benefits realization
Develops and balances program management deliverables for successful execution
Works with executive team to ensure alignment with transformation goals and objectives - including benefit realization, organization alignment (Target Operating Model), processes and skills
Actively participates and coordinates program-level interactions with sponsors to ensure proper implementation of programs and projects
Identifies and implements program management best practices
Acts as liaison to internal and external constituencies, vendors, sponsors, etc.
Leads business decisions regarding methods, techniques, and procedures for program design and completion
Represent domain leadership in cross-functional portfolio management-related initiatives to drive integration strategies, processes and standards.
Provide proactive mentorship to project managers and build project management competency in key positions across the domain.
Partner with Financial Controllers on all aspects of financial planning and tracking.
Monitor budgets and operational effectiveness; develops strategies for adjusted courses of action.
Work with vendors, Purchasing, VMO and IR BMO on MSAs, Contracts, SOWs, POs and Invoices as needed.
Proactively identifies and manages issues and risks
Experience with and a strong understanding of Agile and Waterfall principles and methodologies
Effective oversight and control of the program structure and processes (e.g. resource/workload management)
A proven track record within industry (consulting experience a plus) that demonstrates abilities to work closely with executives (technical and operational) and line personnel
Strong skills in project/program management and PMO tools such as Microsoft Project, Planview Innotas, Clarity; Jira a PLUS
Strong communication and leadership skills
Ability to coach and mentor Project Managers and team members on project methodology and tools
Keep current on professional best practices through professional literature and training workshops.
Strong Business Analysis skills
PMP certification a PLUS
Previous experience managing Mergers & Acquisition Program a PLUS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
8-11 years of proven experience in various aspects of program management (e.g., project/program management, portfolio management, planning/governance, business analysis/process and application development)
Budgets and durations for these programs can range from $4 - $10 million and 2-5 years.
Clear understanding and experience in project and portfolio governance approaches (including but not limited to PMI, waterfall, iterative, Agile, Scrum, and OPM3)
Experience with project /program/portfolio intake/alignment and funding models
Demonstrated ability to negotiate, persuade, influence others and manage conflict
Pharmaceutical Experience is a PLUS
Ability to travel to client site in Waukegan/North Chicago
