Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with a strong background in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-level financial applications. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in mainframe technologies, strong problem-solving skills, and hands-on experience working in complex banking or financial environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe-based applications and batch processes.

  • Analyze existing programs and provide performance enhancements, code optimizations, and bug fixes.

  • Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and QA teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Perform data analysis and create data mapping documents for integration and migration activities.

  • Develop and maintain JCLs, COBOL programs, and DB2 SQL queries.

  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to enterprise coding standards and best practices.

  • Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and provide timely resolutions.

  • Support modernization initiatives by integrating legacy systems with distributed platforms or cloud services where applicable.

Required Skills

  • 12+ years of experience in Mainframe application development and maintenance.

  • Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, and IBM Utilities.

  • Solid understanding of Batch and Online processing.

  • Hands-on experience with ChangeMan, Endevor, or other version control tools.

  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills using Expeditor, File-Aid, and Abend-AID.

  • Experience in the Banking/Financial domain is highly preferred.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA or Confluence.

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to Mainframe modernization or API integration projects.

  • Knowledge of Cloud migration (AWS, Azure) or DevOps pipeline automation for mainframe systems.

  • Experience in performance tuning and optimization for large-scale enterprise environments.
