Job Details

Title: Senior Unix Administrator
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Type: Contract to Hire

Our client is seeking a Senior Unix Administrator who has demonstrable knowledge of containers, cloud technologies, and agile/scrum activities.
Key Accountabilities:

  • Configures, installs, maintains, and upgrades computer systems hardware and software.
  • Administers and maintains security of operating systems.
  • Restores files or systems by designing, writing, and implementing back-up procedures.
  • Provides operational support for the organization's information systems and peripheral equipment such as application servers, database servers, web servers, desktops, printers, and storage devices.
  • Performs recovery procedures, scheduling and back-ups and monitors batch processes.
  • Match incumbents responsible for administering systems on multiple platforms such as mainframe, UNIX, and LAN to this discipline.
  • Install and maintain OpenShift clusters.
  • Performance resiliency and disaster recovery testing.
  • Log aggregation and correlation using ELK (or equivalent technology).
  • Experience with CI/CD deployment pipeline integration (preferred tools: Ansible, Jenkins, Nexus)
  • Automating end-to-end workflows (SRE experience preferred).
  • Maintenance and performance optimization.
  • Documenting workflows and providing evidence for audit reporting.

Required Skills:

  • The ideal candidate will have an affinity for technology and the Linux OS.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of RHEL/OpenShift experience:
    • +5 years supporting RHEL/RHEV/Satellite.
    • +3 years supporting OpenShift.
  • Experience working with public cloud environments (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform), particularly in areas of containerization, automation, and remote systems management.
  • Server administration, monitoring, and configuration management. Ansible and scripting experience a plus.
  • Server hardening techniques, including vulnerability remediation and privileged access management.
  • Understanding of Elasticsearch administration and troubleshooting.
