Tool and Die Maker

Position- Tool and Die Maker
Location: Chicago, IL 60644
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Shift: 1st Shift (Overtime Available)
Industry: Manufacturing Metal Stamping, Wire Forming

Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate machine tools (lathe, milling machine, grinder, etc.) to produce precision parts.

• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and tool descriptions to plan tooling layout and build.

• Inspect and verify dimensions using micrometers, gauges, and comparators.

• Assemble parts into complete tools and mechanisms.

• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and modifications to tools and dies.

• Maintain neat and organized workstation and ensure all equipment is returned properly.

• Collaborate with supervisors and production teams to resolve issues and optimize tooling processes.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5+ years of tool design experience.

• At least 1 year of experience with 4-slides.

• Strong ability to read blueprints and understand tolerances.

• Skilled in using manual machining equipment.

• Familiar with AutoCAD, EDM machines, and metal stamping is a strong plus.

• Basic math skills including geometry and trigonometry.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice to Have:

• TMA certification

• Experience in coil heading or forming small wire/flat metal

• CNC programming or familiarity with wire-forming machines

• Knowledge of EDM, Haas, or other toolroom equipment
