Robotics Development Engineer Opportunity in the greater Worcester/Boston area!

Position: Test Development Engineer

Basic Qualifications:
- 4+ years of manufacturing quality assurance engineering experience in the robotics/mechatronics/manufacturing industry.
- Candidate should understand software and hardware components, understand how failures can come from the failure of software to accurately perceive reality and a failure of physical reality to conform with software's expected outcome.
- Must be able to decompose business requirements into functional requirements that can be evaluated individually.
- Responsible for developing rigorous test cases based on business requirements, working in conjunction with a team of test execution support engineers to conduct all testing requirements for the prototype product
- Capturing test results and reporting back to the business on pass/fail criteria with detailed findings (Polarian and/or Excel will be used to track test cases)
- Systems have complex configurations, both in HMI adjustable configs and physical adjustments inside the machine...must be able to track machine configurations and changes over the course of the test campaign.
- Experience testing robotics/manufacturing products: Ranging from functionality and accuracy testing, product performance testing, durability and stress testing, integration testing, user experience evaluation, data analysis and refinement.
- Conduct thorough testing using a variety of techniques, including controlled environment testing, real-world scenario testing, and stress testing.
- Analyze test data to identify areas for improvement and collaborate with engineers to refine the machines design, software, and material handling mechanisms
- Document test procedures, results, and identified improvement opportunities meticulously.
- Providing test results back to stakeholders and product development teams to make product changes/adjustments as-needed
- Ability to troubleshoot operational issues within a given automation/machine
- Ability to performance basic fault analysis aiming at proving/suggesting a solution
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Experience working in new technology or product development
- Design understanding/experience of simple parts, assemblies, and fixtures...will need to evaluate the machine based on the business requirements (not redesign the machine)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with Electro-Mechanical systems
- Ability and desire to work hands on in lab environments
- Contribute to the development of a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the testing team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing and planning test conditions, test scripts, and test data sets to ensure appropriate and adequate coverage and control
- Deep hands-on technical expertise in testing of electro-mechanical systems
- Experience writing test reports analyzing data
- Experience in automation or robotic systems
- An understanding of rapid prototyping options
- Experience with FEA (Ansys and/or SW Simulation)
- Understanding of safety systems
- Familiar with a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with PLCs and CodeSys/IPCs
- Experience creating test plans derived from functional design requirements
- Statistics understanding is a nice to have (how to do a t-test, or make a sample size determination)
- Basic understanding of technical functionality machine diagrams, flowcharts, architecture
- General understanding of hardware, software and controls interaction
