Responsibilities
- Installs, maintains, and updates Linux/UNIX systems such as Red Hat 7 and newer, along with managing applications including BIND DNS, ACAS, SMTP Relay, SPLUNK, and APACHE.
- Ensures all systems comply with the DoD Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) requirements, maintains Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance, and updates system automation and security enhancements.
- Monitors security and performance logs, reviewing and responding to ServiceNow tickets, and participating in technical meetings to provide expert recommendations.
- Handles the development and maintenance of custom scripts, Kickstart deployment files, and Linux/UNIX SOPs, ensuring systems are adequately backed up and restored as per DoD and agency policies.
- Will work closely with developers to create workflows for Linux-based assets in ServiceNow, use Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) for security monitoring, and manage the Continuity of Operations (COOP) testing and documentation.
Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- IAW DoDM 8410.03, must meet intermediate proficiency level.
- Must be "Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) 6 (or later)" certified and certification must be in good standing.
- Must possess ONE of the following 8570 IAT-II certifications: Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+ (Cybersecurity Analyst), GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional), GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials Certification), or SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner).
- Must have at least three (3) years of experience managing, supporting, patching, backing up and restoring Linux/UNIX systems and applications in a DoD environment.
- Must have experience securing systems and applications in accordance with Federal and DoD regulations, directives, policies and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG).
- Must have experience with managing BIND DNS and DNSSEC. DNS Zones is an additional preferred capability.
- Must have experience managing Linux/UNIX operating systems in a Virtual Machine Operating Environment (VOE) like VMware.
- Must have experience installing, configuring and managing Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) within a DoD environment.
- Must have experience managing SMTP Relay's.
- Must have experience managing YUM servers.
- Must have experience managing, supporting, and using SPLUNK and a Syslog server.
- Must have experience supporting Endpoint Security Solutions (ESS) agents on Linux/UNIX systems.
- Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required to support service outages.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing and securing Apache Web Servers.
- Experience with Ansible.
