Role: MQ Architect
Location: Hybrid Onsite Dallas TX, Jersey city Nj, Tampa FL
Duration: Long-term
Responsibilities:
- Architecture & Design:
- Design and define MQ architecture patterns, standards, and best practices for enterprise messaging and integration.
- Develop scalable, high-availability, and secure MQ infrastructures (Queue Managers, Clusters, Channels, etc.).
- Architect solutions for message routing, transformation, and reliability across heterogeneous systems.
- Implementation & Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain IBM MQ environments across on-premise and cloud platforms.
- Implement MQ clustering, load balancing, and failover strategies.
- Set up security including SSL/TLS, channel authentication, and authorization policies.
- Integration & Development Support:
- Work closely with application teams to design messaging interfaces and integration solutions.
- Develop MQ-based integration flows using MQ API, JMS, or integration tools (IIB/ACE, MuleSoft, etc.).
- Support CI/CD automation for MQ deployments.
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for MQ infrastructure (using tools like MQ Explorer, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or custom scripts).
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to message delivery, channel connectivity, or queue performance.
- Governance & Documentation:
- Define standards and guidelines for MQ usage across the enterprise.
- Maintain documentation for MQ configurations, integration patterns, and operational procedures.
- Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and regular audits.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong hands-on experience with IBM MQ (WebSphere MQ) design, setup, clustering, and administration.
- Experience integrating MQ with application servers, APIs, and databases.
- Knowledge of IBM Integration Bus (IIB), App Connect Enterprise (ACE), or equivalent middleware tools.
- Understanding of messaging patterns (Pub/Sub, Point-to-Point, Request/Reply).
- Familiarity with MQ on Cloud (IBM MQ on AWS/Azure) and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Security & Reliability:
- Expertise in configuring SSL/TLS, channel authentication, and MQ security exits.
- Experience in HA/DR, clustering, and performance optimization.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to mentor development teams and enforce architectural standards.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- IBM Certified System Administrator MQ or IBM Certified Solution Designer MQ.
- Experience with AWS/Azure cloud messaging or Kafka is a plus.
- Familiarity with DevOps pipelines (Jenkins, Git, Ansible) for MQ automation.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and enterprise service management.
