Description: Position Overview
This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of maintenance across production facilities, ensuring operational efficiency, equipment reliability, and safety compliance. The individual in this role will coordinate efforts among supervisors, technicians, and key personnel to drive maintenance excellence and support manufacturing success.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and leads a skilled maintenance team to sustain production systems and essential utilities.
- Oversees installation and optimization of processing equipment to enhance efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Guides supervisors in short-term planning while assisting in strategic decision-making for long-term operational improvements.
- Assesses team performance, identifies development opportunities, and implements growth strategies.
- Establishes and refines engineering and maintenance standards to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Provides technical expertise to strengthen preventive maintenance programs, employee training, and scheduling.
- Monitors and reports on maintenance progress, preventive maintenance completion, and downtime metrics.
- Manages spare parts inventory to ensure availability while maintaining cost control.
- Allocates resources efficiently through maintenance scheduling and prioritization.
- Exercises fiscal oversight, maintaining expenditures within budgetary constraints.
- Offers technical support across Maintenance, Production, Sanitation, and Quality teams.
- Tracks and analyzes operational performance using measurable indicators.
- Identifies and proactively addresses safety concerns, ensuring a secure work environment.
- Cultivates a motivated team culture that prioritizes productivity, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborates with Human Resources on recruitment, training, coaching, and performance management strategies.
- Leads and facilitates team meetings, encouraging collaboration and problem-solving in a respectful workplace.
- Upholds safety commitments, ensuring compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Engineering degree or related discipline preferred; extensive maintenance expertise considered in lieu of formal education.
- Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification is highly valued.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in maintenance or engineering management within manufacturing or industrial settings.
- At least 5 years of experience working in food processing operations.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is beneficial.
- Experience with PLC programming is advantageous.
