Schedule: 44/36 schedule (Mon Fri, alternating Fridays off), 7:00 AM 4:30 PM

Position Overview

We're seeking an experienced Sr. Engineering Technician Cybersecurity to serve as the technical lead for SCADA/ICS network design, security, and support for a large-scale public utility infrastructure in Los Angeles, CA.

In this hands-on role, you'll collaborate with IT security teams, consultants, and engineers to support and enhance the organization s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) infrastructure, focusing on cybersecurity, industrial control networks, and system integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, deployment, and support of SCADA/ICS LAN/WAN infrastructure and cybersecurity architecture.
  • Configure and manage network switches, routers, and firewalls (including EIGRP & BGP).
  • Implement and oversee SCADA security standards and compliance measures.
  • Conduct technical investigations, system evaluations, and change request implementations.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external consultants to drive SCADA network upgrades and security enhancements.
  • Prepare documentation, reports, test procedures, and technical presentations.
  • Perform factory acceptance testing, system integration, and real-time SCADA system support.
  • Participate in cybersecurity audits, incident response, and risk assessments.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma + 2 years of accredited college-level engineering coursework.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience (minimum 2 years at Engineering Tech III level).
  • 5+ years working with SCADA and Industrial Control Systems (ICS).
  • Strong knowledge of SCADA protocols: Modbus, DNP3, CIP.
  • Experience configuring LAN/WAN infrastructure, VPNs, VLANs, and cybersecurity tools.
  • Proficiency with network and system documentation, compliance, and reporting.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and on a team.
  • Valid CA Driver's License and ability to obtain Defensive Driver Certification.

Preferred Certifications (Highly Desirable)

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional Security (CCNP Security)
  • GIAC Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP)
  • ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Field and office environment.
  • May involve climbing, lifting (moderate weight), and exposure to extreme conditions and energized equipment.
  • Safety protocols and PPE compliance are required.
