Responsibilities:
We are seeking a seasoned Business Analyst with 10+ years of experience to join our team and lead the analysis and design of a sophisticated microservices architecture. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD), service contracts, and Level 2/Level 3 APIs. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product management, and other business stakeholders to ensure our microservices ecosystem aligns with core business capabilities and drives value.
Key Responsibilities:
Domain Analysis and Modeling:
- Collaborate with product owners, domain experts, and technical leads to identify, model, and document core business domains using DDD principles.
- Define bounded contexts and ensure that microservices align with these contexts to provide clear ownership and responsibility boundaries.
Service Contract Definition:
- Work with architects and developers to define service contracts that are robust, version-controlled, and adhere to the organization s standards.
- Establish guidelines for contract evolution to ensure backward compatibility and minimize service disruptions.
API Documentation and Standards:
- Create and maintain Level 2 and Level 3 API specifications (using RESTful standards or relevant protocols).
- Ensure APIs are well-documented using tools such as OpenAPI/Swagger, defining request/response structures, error handling, and authentication/authorization mechanisms.
Business Requirements Elicitation:
- Conduct workshops, interviews, and stakeholder sessions to gather detailed business requirements.
- Translate high-level objectives into clear, concise user stories, acceptance criteria, and other artifacts suitable for agile development.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring all parties have a clear understanding of requirements and design decisions.
- Facilitate cross-team communication to align on scope, dependencies, and timelines.
Process Improvement and Governance:
- Propose and implement process improvements related to service discovery, versioning, and microservices governance.
- Provide oversight on the documentation and testing of microservices, ensuring alignment with business needs and compliance requirements.
Quality Assurance Support:
- Work closely with QA teams to define test strategies and acceptance test criteria for microservices.
- Verify that delivered functionality aligns with the defined service contracts, DDD constraints, and user stories.
Risk Management:
- Identify and manage potential risks or conflicts arising from overlapping business domains, shared data models, or tight service dependencies.
- Propose mitigation plans, including phased rollouts or versioned contract releases.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 10+ years of overall experience in business analysis, with a strong focus on microservices in an enterprise environment.
Technical Expertise:
- Proven experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD): modeling domains, defining bounded contexts, and creating ubiquitous language.
- Extensive knowledge of service contracts and the ability to guide teams in designing well-structured, versioned APIs.
- Hands-on experience with Level 2 and Level 3 API design (RESTful, resource-based, hypermedia-driven designs, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with API documentation tools (e.g., OpenAPI/Swagger), event-driven systems, and relevant microservices patterns (e.g., Saga, CQRS).
Business Analysis & Agile Methodologies:
- Strong background in requirements gathering, user story creation, and acceptance criteria definition.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum/Kanban environments, including facilitation of refinement and sprint planning sessions.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts into business-friendly language.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decision-makers and guide multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proactive, analytical mindset with a strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Bonus Skills:
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, including observability, logging, and monitoring strategies.
