BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated Ingredient Specifications Specialist Professional for a Position in Minneapolis, MN



Position Title: Specialized Support (Ingredients)


Location: Golden Valley, MN

Job Type: Contract (Part time)



Pay Range: $30-$40/hr.

[JOB DESCRIPTION]


This is an ITQ Dynamic Talent Bench, 1300 hour track position. Seeking flexible, part-time talent with ingredient specifications experience, ideally in dairy, human and/or pet food consumer packaged goods. Hours will range from 16-25 hrs/wk during first shift business hours (7am-5pm CST), Monday through Friday, may be flexible from week to week, and will not exceed 1300 hours annually. Position is intended to be open-ended, so there is no true end date. Contracts will be extended as long as success in assignments is achieved. Local to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area preferred.


JOB SUMMARY:
The Ingredient Specifications Specialist is responsible for creating ingredient specifications in compliance with internal policies and FSMA requirements. They will be business process stewards and project managers as they gather information from internal departments to create specifications and communicate specification changes to internal customers as well as vendors. This critical role collaborates with cross-functional partners (R&D, Sourcing, labelers, finished product specification specialists etc.) to ensure all the right documentation and information is collected to ensure food safety, regulatory and labeling requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelors degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Labeling or related field
* Basic understanding of product commercialization process from product design to manufacturing
* Comfortable working with cross-functional teams
* Experience writing technical specifications
* Good interpersonal and communication skills required to effectively network face-to-face with business teams
* Good organizational skills
* Self-directed, motivated and good time management
* Manage multiple projects simultaneously, providing input on end-to-end timelines of projects on assigned platform
* Ability to prioritize whats important and take action
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, Office 365, and SharePoint


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Publish specifications: Work with a cross-functional team to ensure ingredient specifications are complete, consistent and are released in a timely fashion without any business disruption. Anticipate and effectively prioritize projects against changing business demands. Accelerate the advantages of GPLM and find opportunities to utilize the specification for business growth or HMM.
* Elevate value of specifications: Apply governance and ensure specifications conform to current standards and naming conventions. Identify specification inconsistencies and drive spec accuracy. Help support data clean-up efforts as needed.
* Drive continuous improvement: Lead with ideas for business process and system simplification and standardization. Proactively identify bottlenecks in the specification process and recommend solutions. Collaborate cross-functionally to identify and implement business and process improvements.
* Trusted Partners: Serve as one point of contact for all ingredient specification needs and lead early management activities. Build and maintain strong relationships with FSQ Product Managers, R&D, LRC, Supply Chain and other business team members. Guide the product development process (new and reformulated products) to ensure timely development of specifications taking into account regulatory and business requirements are met (such as nutrition goals/claims, ingredient guidelines etc.). Mentor and coach junior labeling staff and cross-functional partners as required.
* Provide business process and system expertise: Provide just-in-time business process and system guidance to R&D team members on relevant specifications topics. Act as a connector between global PLM resources and the business. Provide input and make risk management decisions to balance regulatory risk with business and operational needs. Collaborate with labelers to address emerging regulatory issues pertaining to food labeling and ensure compliance with current and evolving regulations with the right documentation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience in the food industry or related field
* Experience in Interspec or a similar Product Lifecycle Management system
