job summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and self-motivated Senior AWS Cloud Administrator to join a prominent Randstad client in the Washington, D.C. area. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of broad IT expertise, with a strong focus on architecting, implementing, and managing robust, secure, and performant AWS Cloud infrastructure solutions. The ideal candidate will blend deep, hands-on AWS Administration skills (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC) with traditional systems administration for Windows and RHEL servers. A critical function of this role is ensuring the operational stability, security posture (patching, vulnerability remediation), and audit readiness of the entire cloud environment, demanding a high degree of urgency, sound judgment, and excellent collaboration within an integrated team.

responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, administrate, manage, and support core AWS resources, including EC2, S3, RDS, and VPC.
  • Manage and support end-to-end AWS cloud infrastructure solutions, demonstrating a strong understanding of cloud components (server, storage, network, security, data, and applications).
  • Perform full-stack installation, configuration, and management of both Windows and RHEL servers deployed in the cloud environment.
  • Proactively apply patches, configuration changes, and security updates to address identified vulnerabilities on Windows and RHEL servers.
  • Take ownership of complex technical issues, using sound judgment and a sense of urgency to resolve incidents within defined service levels.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize the availability and efficiency of all managed Windows and RHEL servers.
  • Track, report, and document all variability items (VITs) remediation progress to ensure continuous compliance and audit readiness.
  • Assist in thorough investigations of any security-related incidents affecting server infrastructure.
  • Collaborate effectively within an integrated team environment, providing technical expertise and status updates on ongoing operations and security initiatives.



qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Information Technology (IT), possessing broad knowledge of IT areas such as Architecture, Infrastructure, Operating Systems, Database, Applications, Network, and Cloud implementations.


Minimum of 4+ years of dedicated, strong hands-on experience in AWS Cloud Administration.


Proven expertise in managing and administering core AWS services: EC2, S3, RDS, and VPC.


Demonstrated experience with the installation, configuration, and management of both Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers.


Strong understanding of security best practices, including vulnerability management, patching cycles, and incident investigation.


Experience with tracking and documenting remediation progress (e.g., VITs) for compliance and audit purposes.


Must possess strong communication, interpersonal, and self-motivation skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
