Your role and responsibilities

The Research & Development Manager - Electrical Engineering leads a team of electrical engineers and supports them in achieving R&D targets. Coaches and develops the team. Helps manage motor technologies, platforms, and intellectual property. The work model for the role is: Onsite #LI-Onsite Serve as technical resource for the team and provides technical support within NEMA Motors Division Support the creation of technology and product roadmaps while driving and fostering a culture of innovation within the team Oversee efficient project execution in accordance with gate model, internal procedures as well as the industry standards to ensure project results are delivered with high quality on time and within budget. Stay on top of electric motor technology and market developments to provide inputs to R&D projects Collaborate with other R&D functions, product management, sales, operations and corporate research centers to deliver cost competitive motor technologies and designs and overall customer satisfaction Develop, secure and facilitate innovation process and ensure key performance indicators are in place, tracked and continuously improved upon. Change leader regarding new initiatives and transformational projects Responsible for IP risk and opportunity assessment and risk mitigation strategy in the electric motor design area Allocate tasks to team members and supervise workload to ensure peak performance and the most efficient use of resources. Develop and acquire competencies that will be needed for the development of future products. Ensure talent management through coaching, performance feedback, and provides career opportunities for the team members Prepare annual budgets for the team in cooperation with R&D management and ensure efficient use of funds

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with minimum 12 years of experience in Electrical Design of Electric Motors with minimum 5 years of management experience
  • Knowledge of advanced design methodologies (FEA), manufacturing process and customer support experience are required
  • Working knowledge of UL, CSA, IEEE, NEMA regulatory compliance
  • Preferred Experience Includes: PMP Certification, Lean Six Sigma Certification, Induction Motor, PM Motor
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
