Job Details

We have a client in Vienna, VA searching for a Cloud Architect. This is a 6 month contract to hire. The Cloud Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our multi-cloud environments on AWS and Azure platforms. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud architecture principles, extensive experience with AWS services, deep understanding of cloud networking, and a proven track record of successfully delivering scalable and secure cloud solutions. This is a hybrid role and will require 3 days in office.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creating cloud-based infrastructure in AWS leveraging CloudFormation, Service Catalog, and Terraform.
  • Creating data strategy in AWS to ensure minimal downtime and data loss in the event of a regional failure in AWS.
  • Deploying various Kubernetes resources in EKS on AWS.
  • Collaborating with engineers on patches, security updates, etc. in AWS and Azure.
  • Implementing best practices in AWS security, ensuring Zero Trust and Least Privileged Principles.
  • Design, implement, and maintain AWS network architectures, including VPCs, subnets, routing, VPNs, and Direct Connect.
  • Develop and implement security controls and best practices to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our cloud network infrastructure.
  • Collaborating with Network Engineers, Cloud Security Engineers, Application Teams and various other groups to ensure that new environments meet regulatory/audit requirements and conform to best practices.
  • Develop and maintain architectural standards, best practices, and governance policies for cloud-based solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior members of the team, mentoring them on cloud architecture principles and best practices.
  • Develop documentation of server, network, and application support practices in a common knowledgebase.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in cloud technology and recommend innovative solutions to enhance our cloud architecture.
  • Maintain security and confidentiality of key business information.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of patient PHI / HIPPA records.
  • Utilize exceptional customer service skills.

Work Experience

  • 8+ years experience in AWS architecture, administration, networking, security, 10+ years overall engineering background.
  • Expertise in container technologies including ECS, EKS, Fargate, Docker, or Kubernetes.
  • Strong DevSecOps background using modern patterns such as CI/CD, infrastructure as code (IaC), shift left security etc. on AWS leveraging CFT, Service Catalog, Code Pipeline, Code Build, Terraform.
  • Strong background leveraging AWS Service Catalog to ensure enterprise standards are met for AWS resources.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, VPN, VPC, Express Routes, Direct Connects, subnets, routing tables, NAT gateways etc.
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging AWS systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in bringing structure into unstructured environments and a go-getter with the ability to operate with minimal supervision.

Education
A bachelor s degree in a computer related field, or equivalent experience is required.
