Job Details
ASSYST is seeking a highly experienced Lead Mainframe Systems Programmer to support our government client in Austin, TX.
The position is remote.
Responsibilities
- Perform highly advanced (senior-level) systems administration in support of agency mainframe applications and supporting infrastructure.
- Coordinate day-to-day system administration functions such as mainframe configuration, break/fix system support, and base user account creation/support.
- Provide security administration support, performance monitoring, security monitoring, and system maintenance.
- Support data entry and control work processes, oversee and coordinate mainframe operations in the State s Consolidated Data Center Services (DCS), and collaborate with Network Administration, Customer Support, and Applications Development & Support teams for day-to-day operations.
- Apply expert knowledge and experience as a Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer to support both Legacy Systems and the Mainframe Transformation Team.
- Provide primary support for z/OS operating systems and system components, including planning, implementation, and testing of releases, upgrades, or changes.
- Provide administrative support for CICS , IMS , and SCLM.
- Support assigned Independent Software Vendor (ISV) products such as BlueZone.
- Diagnose platform, software, and related product issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Analyze and address performance issues; provide input and recommendations for system-wide capacity planning, performance tuning, parameters, and system libraries management.
- Serve as technical lead on internal team projects or participate on project teams impacting the z/OS platform.
- Provide support for integration testing of new products with existing applications and user procedures.
- Maintain and provide technical support for Mainframe Production Control, Support Jobs, and monthly Mainframe Job Scheduler.
- Provide technical consultation and support to other IT teams.

- Top Secret Security (TSS)
- Performance monitoring and initial analysis of performance issues
- REXX

- z/OS Operation and Networking (VTAM, TCP/IP)

- SMP/E (System Modification Program/Extended)
- RMF (Resource Measurement Facility)

- JCL (Job Control Language)
- GRS (Global Resource Serialization)
- VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method)
- TSO (Time Sharing Option)
- TLS configuration (certificates, SSL RSA Keys, SFTP, FTPS)
- SCLM or similar configuration management tools (administration and configuration)
