Job Description: We are seeking a Mobile Development Engineer in Test to design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions using Appium. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to implement testing strategies that meet high quality standards. You will play a key role in driving automation, mentoring team members, and shaping our mobile QA practices.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain functional test automation scripts for mobile applications using Appium with Java
- Ensure automation runs continuously, analyzes results, and reports failures promptly
- Research, implement, and train QA resources in Test Driven Development and Appium-based automation
- Collaborate across Schwab and external vendors (onshore and offshore) to define environment requirements and automation tools
- Promote end-to-end testing across multiple applications
- Partner with distributed teams to plan future QA tooling and technology decisions
- Coordinate with product teams, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters to align testing schedules and reporting
- Conduct technical research aligned with organizational goals and user needs
- Mentor junior team members within the Mobile QA team
Qualifications:
- 3+ years in mobile application development
- 4+ years building and maintaining test automation frameworks
- 5+ years developing, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts
- Proficient in Java or other object-oriented programming languages
- Experience with XCUI and/or Espresso; Kotlin and Swift preferred
- Familiarity with bug tracking and test case management tools (e.g., JIRA, MTM, Zephyr, HPQ)
- Proven ability to manage multiple distributed QA projects with concurrent releases
- Strong understanding of mobile development for iOS and/or Android
- Knowledge of CI/CD practices and Lean DevOps methodologies
