Job Title: UC/Zoom Phone Engineer
Location: San Jose, CA 100% Onsite
Duration: 6 Months Contract to Hire
Overview
We are seeking an experienced UC/Zoom Phone Engineer with strong expertise in VoIP communication systems and cloud-based UC platforms. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of system design, administration, and integration, along with hands-on experience supporting enterprise-grade communication solutions. This position is fully onsite and requires strong technical, analytical, and collaboration skills.
Required Skills
Advanced knowledge of VoIP communication systems (voice, video, voicemail, call centers/queues, 911 administration, analog systems).
Expertise with cloud-based VoIP services such as Zoom Voice or similar platforms.
Strong ability to plan, design, and integrate multiple communication systems and services.
Familiarity with regulatory standards and technical specifications (e.g., Kari s Law, RAY BAUM S Act).
Solid understanding of network architecture, protocols, and interconnectivity requirements.
Proficiency with Cisco CUCM, Zoom/Zoom Voice or similar systems, especially with 911 configuration and deployment.
Experience with 911 file formats, conventions, and updating procedures.
Strong troubleshooting skills for both analog protocols and modern UC systems.
Knowledge of system monitoring, testing, and documentation practices.
Basic understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
Excellent teamwork, organization, delegation, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Unified Communications Systems Administration & Maintenance
Implement, configure, administer, maintain, and deploy communication systems and services, including external telecom services.
Troubleshoot and resolve system and equipment issues.
Develop and document system administration, maintenance, and test procedures.
Manage procurement and inventory control of UC systems and equipment.
Design and administer system monitoring and measurement processes.
Unified Communications Systems Design & Analysis
Provide technical analysis for planning, design, evaluation, and implementation of UC/VoIP systems.
Develop systems/network architecture and configurations aligned with user and business requirements.
Research and evaluate available UC/VoIP products; recommend solutions.
Develop and maintain systems standards, protocols, and security practices.
Plan and execute system upgrades and conversions.
