What You'll Do:
  • Push existing Reliability programs to completion such as Small Wire Replacement, Asset Replacement, High Impedance relay test, and Arcing fault detection for wildfire prevention.
  • Develop programs to increase Distribution Reliability in Texas. Research and develop new technology to promote Reliability. Find new programs or re-invent existing programs that will reduce our SAIDI indices.
  • Leverage the DACR (Distribution Automation Circuit Reconfiguration) program to produce results, reducing the annual SAIDI numbers.
  • Program the YFA (Yukon Feeder Automation) software to make the DACR systems work properly. Troubleshoot the DACR systems when they do not operate properly.
  • Provide ongoing support for the upkeep of the DACR system. Help with re-engineering existing schemes to further reduce the number of customers on faulted sections.
  • Help Districts with install plans to reach 80% completion of DA capable circuit installs by 2028.
  • Develop reports to evaluate existing programs and justify continuance or cessation.
  • Use tools such as PowerBI to access data warehouses and develop tools for monitoring and mitigating customer momentary interruptions and extended outages. This involves working with big data and analytical software.

Engineering Level:
  • Both Senior and Associate engineers can apply. Some projects require a moderate level of control settings entry and others require large data manipulation and system tool development.
  • A good background in utility distribution systems is needed.
  • Distribution design and operations experience.
  • A strong background in electrical systems or data analytical tools could substitute for distribution experience.

What We Are Looking For:

Engineer Assc (SG5) $61,647- $77,057.
  • This is an entry level position for new graduates with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.
  • *ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

Acceptable alternative is:
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.

Engineer (SG6): ($72,380 - $90,475)
  • Has typically acquired 2 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*.
  • Individuals with a Master's degree in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET* may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.
  • *ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

Acceptable alternative is:
  • a Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.

Engineer (SG7): ($85,081 - $106,354)
  • Has typically acquired 4 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; or
  • 2 years of related engineering experience along with a Master's degree in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*.

Engineer Sr (SG8) (96,110 - $125,000)
  • Has typically acquired 6 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; or
  • 4 years of related engineering experience along with a Master's degree in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*
