Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-driven and proactive Purchasing Specialist to support our procurement team in sourcing materials, processing purchase orders, coordinating with vendors, and maintaining accurate purchasing documentation. This role plays a key part in ensuring timely, cost-effective procurement of goods and services to meet production and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Issue purchase orders based on price, delivery timelines, product quality, service level, and technical specifications.
- Track and report on cost-saving initiatives and procurement efficiency.
- Coordinate material delivery schedules in alignment with production timelines and vendor lead times; follow up to ensure delivery targets are met.
- Ensure purchase order accuracy, including specification compliance and proper receipt documentation.
- Identify procurement-related risks and escalate where necessary to maintain business continuity.
- Convert internal requisitions into purchase orders.
- Address and resolve discrepancies in supplier invoicing.
- Perform other procurement-related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and shifting priorities.
- Strong communication skills across phone, email, and with suppliers during occasional site visits.
- Skilled negotiator with a strong command of both verbal and written communication.
- Strong analytical thinking and sound decision-making aligned with procurement policies.
- Capable of working independently while collaborating within a fast-paced team setting.
- Proficiency in organizing procurement records and vendor communications.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain operations.
- Familiarity with Bills of Materials (BOM) and sourcing practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and general data entry systems.
- Ability to evaluate new suppliers and apply basic qualification standards during vendor selection.
