Job Description
The Global Transportation Import Control team is seeking a seasoned imports classification engineer who shares our commitment to uphoding compliance while serving our internal and external customers. In this role the selected candidate will be responsible for assigning and maintaining accurate and current Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification records for Lockheed Martin (LM) materials in the Global Trade System (GTS). This role requires a strong understanding of CBP regulations and the ability to document classification decisions in a repository to support audit and compliance activities.
*Assign and maintain accurate and current HTS classification records for LM materials in GTS
*Document classification decisions in a repository to ensure compliance with CBP regulations and support audit and compliance activities
*Research product functionality and specifications to determine correct HTS classification
*Utilize required supporting publications to classify products under the HTS
*Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with trade regulations and company policies
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and/or related experience
Mid-Level Technical Engineer
Experience classifying products under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) utilizing required supporting publications
Experience researching product functionality and specifications for the purpose of assigning HTS
Current knowledge of Title 19 Code of Federal Regulations, harmonized tariff schedule, and adjacent publications
Practical experience assigning harmonized tariff schedule classifications
Experience identifying, collecting, and data elements for purposeful usage
Desired skills
Customs Broker License or equivalent certification
Certification in trade compliance or a related field (e.g. CCLS, CCS)
Experience applying International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) license and exemption requirements to import transactions
Experience with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) duty free entry process
Experience providing contracted customs broker oversight
Experience utilizing SAP/GTS
Experience creating and maintaining internal process documentation and training
Experience collaborating with adjacent functions to resolve joint and/or competing priorities
Experience reviewing contractual language and offering guidance to adjacent teams
Employment experience conducting import work for an importer of record
Experience reviewing Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements
Understanding of freight forwarding industry
Understanding of dangerous goods requirements
Understanding of export requirements
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with diverse teams
Ability to maintain professional, collaborative working relationships with stakeholders
Ability to navigate complex, rapidly shifting regulatory environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong skills in business software (MS Office, web applications, etc.)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $77,700 - $136,965. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
