Schedule: M-F from 7am-4pm

Position Summary:

Responsible for Bidding and Estimating Federal Contracts

Job Responsibilities:

Cost Estimating

  • Order Plans & Specs packages.
  • Maintain Bid Log / Job Folders (paper and digital)
  • Perform Accurate Material take offs.
  • Organize Take-Off information in estimating template.
  • Request Vendor pricing for all required materials, equipment, subcontracts, etc.
  • Maintain project files updated with all project information.
  • Prepare estimating notes for PM (top 10 list)
  • Analyze material pricing / vendor clarifications and product suitability.
  • Prepare scope of work letters (sent out minimum 3 days prior to bid)
  • Complete any required pre-bid submittals.
  • Organize and lead a bid review meeting- outlining conceptual design, estimated costs and

potential pitfalls / windfalls

Prepare detailed Bid Proposals with final approved pricing, terms, and clarifications for final review and

distribution.

  • Acts as team leader for project proposals
  • Prepare the budget for each job.
  • Procurement / bid process

Prepare & implement Quality Control Plan, safety plan, environmental Protection (SWPPP)Plan,

work plans, etc.

  • Sells and promotes work.
  • Assist Sales and marketing.
  • Conceptual cost estimating and budgeting.

Support Project Managers and Superintendents. Assist in preparation of Superintendents book.

  • Assist PM s/ Superintendent with clarification of scope and specifications.
  • Assist with change order justification, documentation, and customer communication of change costs.

Preconstruction / post-construction services

  • Submittals Management- Maintain a tracking spreadsheet with status of submittals for each.

  • Material order quantities including analyzing special roll lengths.
  • Quantity Verification pre/post construction

Other responsibilities:

  • Filing: Produces historical data file for every project or budget.
  • Maintenance: Maintains production rate database of historical field results for all common applications.
  • Preparation: Prepares requisitions for materials procurement (each project)
  • Organization: Provides bill of materials for each awarded project (detailed list of all materials required for successful completion of the project)
  • Relationships: Maintains close interaction / relationships with Vendors, Owners, and Engineers
  • Time Management: Prioritizes by maintaining a daily priority list (reviewed daily each afternoon before leaving office for the day)
  • Team leader: Assist with special administrative/ procedural improvement projects on as needed basis.
  • Other: Perform other general duties as assigned or delegated. This position requires driving for work related tasks during scheduled hours.

Work Schedule:

Normal workdays are from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. Salaried

employees are expected to put in the time needed to get the job done and a minimum of 50 to 55 hours per week on average; however, exceeding 55 hours is discouraged.

Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of experience in civil and underground project estimating
  • Ability to perform quantity take-offs.
  • Must have experience with HCSS (HeavyBid & HeavyJob)
  • Experience with Excel
  • Experience with On-Screen Takeoffs and Earth Calculation Software
  • Ability to aggressively follow up on bids.
  • Wet and dry utility project experience is a must.
  • Clark County and City of Las Vegas experience a plus
  • Knowledge of NDOT, Nevada State, and Public Works projects a plus
  • Knowledge of Federal Highway Administration and USACE Project is a Plus
