ROLE: Senior Technical Project Manager (AI)
LOCATION: Orlando, FL onsite ~2x/week (Remote allowed for strong candidates willing to travel as needed)
TYPE: Long-term contract (multi-year)
Hiring Manager notes:
AI experience not from Infrastructure or DevOps experience. Most of the resumes I received yesterday were Infrastructure or DevOps related. Not what she is looking for.
Experience needs to be recent and specifically with Ai for a minimum of 3-4 years (ideally 5) not digital transformations. Manager is specifically looking for Ai projects either within ecommerce, digital space, or similar. They hired someone from Amazon and it was a perfect fit for them.
Must have managed projects of budgets in a minimum of $20-25M ( ideally within Ai) this current project at Disney will be a $30M , and could grow to $50M if they add other Disney areas manager rejected someone yesterday because he had only managed budgets of 10-15M
IMPORTANT: Candidates must be fully screened and will require a video interview with our team prior to submittal.
CORE REQUIREMENTS
- AI Implementation Enterprise-scale AI project experience in a large, matrixed environment.
- Executive Presence Build polished decks, present confidently to C-suite, backup presenter for HM, strong storytelling, and precision. Presence and communication skills are highly important
- Project Leadership Act as scrum of scrums, manage details (JIRA, risks, blockers), resolve/escalate issues, influence without authority.
- Culture & Fit Disney culture > Big Tech culture. Must be collaborative, detail-obsessed, approachable, and able to adapt to a very directive hiring manager. This is not optional candidates without this fit will not pass interviews, regardless of technical skill.
ROLE SUMMARY
- Initiative: Multi-year AI project, kickoff today; expected to run through 2027 with possible extensions.
- Reason Open: Newly created role for new initiative.
TEAM STRUCTURE
- Role spans business and technology workstreams.
- Provides dotted-line oversight of ~10 PMs (Disney + vendor).
- Oversight = coordination/direction only, no performance reviews.
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend multiple workstream meetings daily (track risks, progress, blockers).
- Consolidate updates into executive-level summaries.
- Drive alignment across ~10 PMs and vendors, escalate issues when needed.
- Balance strategic oversight with detail-level involvement (including JIRA).
CULTURE & FIT
- Collaborative, approachable, low ego.
- Extremely detail-oriented; formatting/precision highly valued.
- Must adapt to hands-on, directive hiring manager.
- Expected to take direction, then execute independently.
- Will interface with long-tenured Disney stakeholders (10 25+ years).
- Disney culture prioritized over Big Tech culture (Microsoft/Meta candidates will likely not be a fit).
INTERVIEW PROCESS (after our screening)
- Target Timeline: Aim to complete within one week.
- Round 1: Hiring Manager + Delivery-Side Executive.
- Round 2: Two VPs.
- Format: Structured Q&A plus candidate-provided sample (non-confidential) executive presentations.
