As part of the Identity and Network Access division, you'll work on foundational services that keep the global software and hardware supply chains secure everything from PKI certificate management to software distribution and secure infrastructure. As a Cloud Network Engineer II on the Trust and Security Services (TSS) High Security Environments team, you'll design, automate, deploy, and manage secure network infrastructure for mission-critical services. You'll work on enterprise-scale systems in highly secure data centers, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to build and maintain the backbone of Microsoft's most sensitive operations. Responsibilities
  • You lead the design, network/code, and security reviews across teams to identify risks and prevent classes of bugs prior to production release.
  • You influence telemetry analytics designs to better identify patterns that reveal errors.
  • You troubleshoot and repair complex live site issues by applying expertise in physical network components.
  • You develop new automated testing and validation procedures for network devices to drive solutions between internal teams and external vendors.
  • You demonstrate knowledge of data (i.e., know what data is needed, how to find new or missing data, and how to describe the impact of defects on customers).
  • You contribute to the development of the knowledge base for data center or network site technicians on how to repair and replace existing network hardware.
  • Automate defined processes to eliminate human error and increase availability and standards.
  • Define secure connectivity paths between Azure and Secure DCs to enable hybrid services.
  • Consult with service owners to help them create secure, easy to troubleshoot, and highly available services on top of our network
  • Support our Enterprise Storage solutions
  • Partner with Network, Security, and Storage peers to design highly secure and available private cloud solutions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical experience in network design, development, and automation OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with designing and implementing network architectures that include hybrid Cloud/on-prem deployments.
  • Experience in developing Infrastructure as Code solutions, particularly Ansible.
  • IP networking fundamentals and experience in the application of IP/Routing protocols (i.e., BGP, OSPF, MPLS, TCP/UDP, IPSEC/MACSec, HTTP/HTTPS).
  • Comprehensive troubleshooting skills across the OSI layer (Switching, Routing, and application/layer 7 Firewalls).
  • Experience with designing and implementing application load balancing (LTM/HLB).
  • Experience in enterprise automation using PowerShell, Perl, Python, YAML/Ansible, C# or equivalent.
  • Ability to work as a team player including mentoring and sharing of knowledge.
  • Experience with large Datacenter deployments.
  • Ability to take projects from beginning to end with little direct supervision.
  • Experience working with Enterprise NAS or SAN solutions
  • Ability to work effectively across teams to drive business and technology decisions.

Cloud Network Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
