Job Title: Senior Billing Analyst
Location: Remote

Role Responsibilities:

This is a senior-level billing role that requires both analytical and operational expertise. The work is not repetitive - day-to-day tasks vary.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage and action items from the ticketing queue (Jira Service Management) on a rotational weekly basis (the assignment of incoming tasks is handled on a weekly rotation, but the actioning of those tickets is done daily)
  • Investigate and resolve billing variances between billed amounts and revenue recognized amounts (deferred revenue).
  • Partner cross-functionally with:
  • Collections, Credit, and Cash Applications (Order-to-Cash)
  • Revenue Accounting, Sales, and Technical Teams
  • Ensure accurate and timely invoicing across multiple billing methods.
  • Handle 3rd Party Stats (3PS) Billing - reconcile Yahoo's billing data with third-party ad delivery stats, flag variances outside thresholds.
  • Support reporting and reconciliation tasks using Excel/Sheets.
  • Take ownership of issues and proactively follow up to resolution.
  • Maintain and leverage existing process documentation (no need to create new SOPs).

Key Metrics / Performance Indicators:

  • Timeliness of billing and ticket resolution
  • Accuracy of invoices and reconciliations
  • Completeness of billing transactions
  • Variance resolution between billed and recognized revenue

  • Strong critical thinking - able to troubleshoot non-standard issues and see upstream/downstream impacts
  • Excellent communication - must be able to "translate" technical issues into business terms for different teams
  • Strong relationship-building and partnership skills across global teams
  • Self-starter, curious, and eager to improve processes
  • Comfortable asking questions but expected to retain knowledge after clarification
  • High attention to detail, ownership, and accountability

Tools & Systems:

  • Jira Service Management (JSM) for ticketing (experience preferred but not required)
  • Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides, Mail) used company-wide
  • Excel intermediate or higher proficiency required (for reporting and analysis)
  • Salesforce CRM integration with billing
  • Oracle Financials ERP system
  • Homegrown tools:
  • Data Mart (for 3rd party billing)
  • Customer Unified Billing Workbench (CUBW) (for 1st party billing)

Preferred Background:

  • 5+ years of billing experience (mandatory)
  • Experience in digital advertising, media, or technical/finance industries preferred
  • Former Yahoo employees (past 5 years) are prioritized
  • Candidates from non-technical domains (e.g., medical billing) will be secondary consideration
