Overview
Our client, a leading University in Massachusetts, recently attempted an Oracle APEX upgrade from version 4.2 to 24.2 and is experiencing significant issues due to the unsupported direct migration. With 120 130 applications running in this environment, they are seeking an experienced Oracle APEX Consultant to lead remediation, stabilize the environment, and guide next steps for production migration.
Responsibilities
- Assess and remediate issues arising from the direct upgrade from Oracle APEX 4.2 to 24.2.
- Review and troubleshoot 120 130 existing applications to identify broken functionalities and dependencies.
- Provide expertise in Oracle APEX upgrade paths and recommend corrective strategies.
- Work within a VMware-hosted environment to ensure smooth system stability.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to document findings, solutions, and recommended best practices.
- Phase 2: Lead the migration process by importing changes from the production environment and migrating production applications to the upgraded environment.
- Ensure that post-migration applications are fully functional, stable, and aligned with business needs.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience with Oracle APEX upgrades, remediation, and migrations.
- Strong understanding of APEX version compatibility and upgrade best practices.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting complex application breakages post-upgrade.
- Familiarity with VMware-hosted environments.
- Excellent problem-solving, diagnostic, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote engagement while providing timely updates to stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Experience working in higher education or large enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of Oracle Database administration and tuning.
- Prior involvement in multi-phase migration projects (test production).
