Role: Kafka Engineer
Experience: 8+ Years
Location: Plano, TX / Buffalo Grove, IL
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Kafka Engineer with strong expertise in designing, building, and maintaining high-performance data streaming platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Confluent Kafka, KSQL DB queries, and cloud-based Kafka implementations, along with in-depth knowledge of Kafka internals, cluster management, and enterprise-grade messaging systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support enterprise-level Kafka Distributed Messaging and Integration Ecosystem.
- Plan, install, configure, and administer Kafka clusters, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
- Implement capacity planning, disaster recovery, data replication, and performance optimization strategies.
- Develop and optimize KSQL DB queries for real-time data processing and analytics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support data pipelines, network, compute, and storage integrations.
- Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and best-practice guides for Kafka implementation and management.
- Provide troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and performance tuning for production environments.
Required Skills
- 8+ years of IT experience with at least 5+ years in Apache Kafka.
- Strong hands-on experience with Confluent Kafka Platform.
- Expertise in KSQL DB Query for real-time analytics.
- Deep knowledge of Kafka internals, cluster architecture, partitions, replication, and security.
- Experience with serialization formats such as Apache Avro.
- Exposure to cloud technologies like Google Cloud Platform and Azure.
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery planning and platform administration.
Good to Have
- Prior experience with Confluent Kafka implementation projects.
- Familiarity with cloud-native Kafka deployments and container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
