Walker Healthforce is seeking a Senior Acountant to support a healthcare client based out of Irving, TX. This is a 12-week contract opportunity.
START DATE: ASAP
HOURS/SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, 8a- 5p M-F
WORKER TYPE: Full-Time
CORE REQUIREMENTS:
- Education & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree required; Accounting major preferred
- Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience required
- Healthcare accounting experience preferred, but not required
- Licenses & Certifications
- CPA license not required, but preferred
- Candidates pursuing CPA licensure are encouraged; support may be provided
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Ability to assess the appropriateness of journal entries and their financial statement impact
- High level of attention to detail and documentation standards
- Solid analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare accurate and well-documented month-end journal entries in compliance with US GAAP.
- Analyze account activity and perform variance analysis against budget and historical trends; submit findings to accounting leadership for month-end review.
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts.
- Validate and assess journal entry support, which may include developing reasonable estimates based on historical trends.
- Assist cross-functional teams with information requests related to the assigned accounting area.
- Participate in and support various projects including:
- Research and analysis of general ledger transactions
- Year-end audit preparation
- Accounting process improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with team members across departments to resolve discrepancies or issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Develop knowledge of healthcare-specific accounting practices as related to assigned areas.
