What you'll do

As a Secure Enterprise Engineer you will be responsible for customer support and consulting via telephone, email and in person, software verification testing, sales support, training, and technical writing initiatives for Viasat's Network Systems products. This will be focused on our family of encryption solutions.

The day-to-day

  • Assist with overseeing lab operations, including the setup and configuration of ancillary networking devices, such as routers, switch and firewalls
  • Prepare and ship equipment to customers or between Viasat facilities
  • Collaborate with development engineers and program leadership for product improvements
  • Support technical pre/post-sales activities, as well as technical review of product documentation
  • Liase with our customer community through requirements discussions, leading training courses, providing demonstrations, and resolve chronic issues.
  • Perform analysis in testing and proposing new features and offerings for Viasat customers

What you'll need

  • 2+ years' experience in network operations, implementation or Engineering experience
  • Experience troubleshooting technical Network issues
  • Proven experience with IP networking and related fundamentals;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the OSI model, ethernet operation, static and dynamic routing (RIP, OSPF and EIGRP) and tunneling (VPN, GRE)
  • Demonstrated experience using network sniffers or trace tools (Wireshark, NetScout, etc.), traffic generators (IXIA/SPIRENT), network management applications and similar test equipment
  • Demonstrated proficiency at technical writing and documentation review
  • Previous experience with COMSEC handling and requirements
  • Strong presentation and communication skills to convey technical and non-technical information to audiences
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • US government position. ship required
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Ability to travel between 25%-50% both domestically and internationally
  • Must be capable of acquiring CCNA within first six months of employment

What will help you on the job

  • 5+ years' network operations, implementation, and engineering experience
  • Active CCNA, CCNP
  • Knowledge of network management protocols such as SNMP or RESTconf APIs.
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • Working knowledge of Cloud Service Provider operations.
  • Experience with Linux / UNIX, Windows applications, VMware, enterprise-class device management tools, and/or various software automation scripting or programming languages such as Python, JSON, TCL, and MATLAB
  • Familiarity with network security test tools and scanners ranging from nmap, Retina, NessQualys, Metasploit, CANVAS, Burp Suite, Zed Attack Proxy and Core Impact.
  • Ethical Hacking Class/certificate (e.g., GWAPT/GPEN/GAWN/GXPN/OSCP) or equivalent experience doing penetration testing

Salary range

$96,500.00 - $152,500.00 / annually.For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $119,500.00- $179,500.00/ annually
