Job Description

ECS is seeking a Senior SQL Database Developer to support onsite work at NSWC Dahlgren, VA .

You will be part of a team of experts charged with providing support in the areas of cyber analysis and cyber development capabilities in response to Navy's and DoD's needs for Cyber Situational Awareness (SA), Cyber Command and Control (C2), Mission Assurance, and Homeland Defense. You will have the opportunity to work and grow your expertise with a team of software engineering and cyber security experts working to tackle the cyber defense issues of the modern military with creative and innovative solutions.

Program scope includes identifying cyber key terrain by analyzing operational requirements, conducting cyber analyses and assessments, and developing and performing modeling and simulation in support of different cyber threat scenarios. Additionally, program support includes developing methodology and framework in support of cyber risk assessment life cycle. Our team will provide capabilities to support the customer with rapid design, development, test, deployment, maintenance and operation of specific software and hardware capabilities to meet current Cyber Defensive needs. As a Senior Developer on this program, you will be tasked with implementing new features within a critical, line of business application that support mission assurance and operational management functions.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Evaluating/Troubleshooting SQL queries and stored procedures for optimal performance
  • Performing daily checks of database services and systems to ensure availability
  • Monitoring database management systems for health in terms of resources such as memory and CPU usage
  • Assisting software developers with query design and tuning
  • Performing Extraction, Transacting and Loading (ETL) of data as necessary
  • Diagnosing and resolving database management systems in times of reduction of service or failure
  • Consulting with system architects and software developers on database object design (tables, stored procedures, views, triggers, indices, etc.)
  • Developing, monitoring, and maintaining any database jobs that are necessary to maintain the health of the database server(s)
  • Ensuring that database server (and individual database) settings are appropriate


Required Skills

  • U.S. Citizenship and Active or Interim DoD SECRET clearance
  • Active CompTIA Security+ Certificate.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant degree (Or experience commensurate with the qualifications).
  • Proven years of experience as an SQL Developer or similar role.
  • Well-versed in the use of relational database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Minimum Seven (7) years' experience in Relational database design, Database administration, and/or Database server install and administration.
  • Adept at troubleshooting issues related to database servers including performance, connections, server failures and more.
  • Critical thinker and a team player, time-management skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Windows and Linux operating systems

    • SQL Server configuration and performance tuning
    • Microsoft SQL Database Administration and SQL development
    • Transact SQL
    • PowerShell
    • Scripting
    • Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services
  • Experience working with DoD customers.
  • Experience working on cybersecurity projects.
