Healthcare Solution Architect

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Healthcare Solution Architect with deep expertise in digital transformation, data architecture, and artificial intelligence to lead the design and implementation of innovative healthcare solutions across payor and provider ecosystems. This role requires a strategic thinker who can bridge technical capabilities with healthcare domain knowledge to drive meaningful improvements in care delivery, operational efficiency, and patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Design
- Design and architect end-to-end healthcare solutions that integrate payor and provider systems, ensuring seamless data exchange and interoperability
- Develop comprehensive technical roadmaps that align with organizational strategy and healthcare industry trends
- Create scalable, secure, and compliant architectures that meet HIPAA, HITECH, and other regulatory requirements
- Lead the evaluation and selection of technology platforms, including cloud infrastructure, data platforms, and AI/ML tools
- Define integration patterns and APIs for connecting disparate healthcare systems (EHR, claims processing, care management platforms)
Digital & Data Strategy
- Architect modern data platforms leveraging cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) to support analytics, reporting, and AI initiatives
- Design data governance frameworks ensuring data quality, security, and privacy across the healthcare data lifecycle
- Develop strategies for real-time data integration between payor and provider systems to enable coordinated care
- Create architectures for digital health applications including patient portals, telehealth platforms, and mobile health solutions
- Implement data lake and data warehouse solutions optimized for healthcare analytics and population health management
AI & Advanced Analytics
- Design and implement AI/ML solutions for clinical decision support, predictive analytics, and risk stratification
- Architect natural language processing (NLP) solutions for clinical documentation, prior authorization, and claims processing
- Develop computer vision applications for medical imaging analysis and diagnostics
- Create frameworks for responsible AI deployment including bias detection, model monitoring, and explainability
- Build predictive models for readmission risk, disease progression, cost forecasting, and member engagement
Payor & Provider Domain Expertise
- Design solutions that address key payor challenges including claims adjudication, utilization management, member engagement, and quality reporting
- Architect provider-focused solutions for care coordination, population health management, clinical workflows, and revenue cycle optimization
- Develop value-based care platforms that enable risk-sharing arrangements and quality measure tracking
- Create solutions for social determinants of health (SDOH) data integration and care gap closure
- Design interoperability solutions supporting FHIR, HL7, X12, and other healthcare data standards
Leadership & Collaboration
- Partner with clinical leaders, data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams and junior architects
- Present architecture proposals and recommendations to executive leadership and technical steering committees
- Collaborate with vendors and technology partners to evaluate emerging healthcare technologies
- Lead proof-of-concept initiatives to validate new technologies and approaches
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred
- 8+ years of experience in healthcare IT with at least 4 years in solution architecture roles
- Proven experience working with both payor and provider organizations
- Direct experience architecting and implementing large-scale healthcare solutions
Technical Skills
- Cloud Platforms: Deep expertise in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform with healthcare-specific services
- Data Architecture: Strong experience with data lakes, data warehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines, and modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, etc.)
- AI/ML: Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), NLP, and MLOps practices
- Integration: Expertise in API design, microservices, event-driven architectures, and healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, X12)
- Healthcare Systems: Knowledge of EHR platforms (Epic, Cerner), claims systems, and care management applications
- Programming: Proficiency in Python, SQL, and scripting languages
Healthcare Domain Knowledge
- Deep understanding of healthcare payor operations including claims, benefits, provider networks, and care management
- Strong knowledge of provider workflows, clinical documentation, revenue cycle, and care delivery models
- Familiarity with value-based care models, quality measures (HEDIS, Star Ratings), and risk adjustment
- Understanding of healthcare regulations including HIPAA, HITECH, and emerging AI regulations
- Knowledge of healthcare data standards and interoperability initiatives (USCDI, FHIR)
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority
- Strategic thinking with ability to balance long-term vision with near-term execution
- Adaptability to rapidly changing healthcare and technology landscapes
Preferred Qualifications
- Enterprise architecture certifications (TOGAF, Zachman)
- Cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Platform Professional Architect)
- Healthcare-specific certifications (CHPS, CAHIMS)
- Experience with generative AI and large language models (LLMs) in healthcare contexts
- Knowledge of healthcare privacy-enhancing technologies and federated learning
- Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies in healthcare settings
- Previous consulting experience working across multiple healthcare organizations
