Job Description:

Apex Systems is seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer to serve as the Air Dominance Principal Engineer, based in Hazelwood, MO.

Summary:

This role will lead engineering proposal activities supporting new business opportunities for the Air Dominance platforms. Additionally, you will oversee planning and execution of training device projects for government training programs. This position requires strong project management skills, technical leadership, and a results-driven mindset. You will work under minimal direction and collaborate closely with engineering and program management teams to maintain a common vision and deliver winning products.

Responsibilities:
  • Leading engineering teams across multiple disciplines, including internal and external resources.
  • Developing and managing Statements of Work (SOW) for research, development, and new business requirements.
  • Collaborating with customers and management to secure approvals and negotiate changes to scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Driving project execution, identifying performance metrics, and ensuring alignment with baseline plans.
  • Coordinating resources, mitigating risks, and capitalizing on opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Delivering world-class training solutions to prepare the next generation of pilots.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in an engineering environment required
  • Experience with technical proposals, estimates, and program planning.
  • 7+ years of engineering project management experience preferred
  • Familiarity with training systems and/or military aircraft platforms a plus
  • Experience with DoD acquisition processes, IRAD projects, and earned value management preferred
  • SAFe Agile team experience a plus
