Job Description: Network Engineer

Position Overview

  • We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Network Engineer to design, implement, manage, and support our organization's network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will ensure network security, reliability, and scalability while supporting business operations and IT initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN, and cloud-based networks.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal uptime and reliability.
  • Implement and manage network security measures such as firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to support servers, storage, and applications that rely on network connectivity.
  • Perform routine network maintenance, upgrades, and patches.
  • Document network architecture, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Conduct capacity planning and recommend improvements for scalability.
  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and provide recommendations for adoption.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a Network Engineer, Network Administrator, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers (Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) is a plus.
  • Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools (SolarWinds, Wireshark, Nagios, etc.).
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of VoIP, SD-WAN, and VPN technologies.
  • Scripting/automation experience (Python, Ansible, PowerShell).
  • Understanding of ITIL processes and best practices.
