Job Title: OpenVMS Programmer

Location: Queens, NY ( Hybrid)

Type: Long Term Contract

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain applications using C++, C, DECforms, ACMS, and Oracle Rdb on the OpenVMS platform.
  • Provide daily user support and generate analysis reports based on existing data.
  • Design, redesign, optimize, and implement database enhancements.
  • Monitor and tune database performance, including analyzing and modifying database storage areas, indexes, and transaction paths.
  • Resolve internal and external database fragmentation issues
  • Design screens using DEC-FORMS to meet business needs and enhance user experience.
  • Review physical database area usage, free space, fill factors, and perform checks on storage segment and page statistical distributions.
  • Develop new documentation and review/update existing documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Migrate all applications to newer hardware platforms and enable web access to enhance accessibility and performance.
  • Perform other related tasks as needed to support the department's objectives.

  • Platforms: OpenVMS 8.3-1H1 (HP Integrity), OpenVMS 8.3 (Alpha), OpenVMS 8.4 (Alpha)

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing applications using C language and Oracle DB on OpenVMS.
  • Strong understanding of database design, optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Proficiency in DECforms, ACMS, and Oracle Rdb.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Candidate must be located in NYC area. Expected hybrid work schedule with onsite requirements with the client.
