Job Details
Title: Lead Network Engineer Position Type: Contract Location: Plano, TX
Key Responsibilities:
Overseeing all active network equipment to ensure smooth operations, system availability, and reliability.
Diagnosing and resolving network problems, implementing security measures, and proactively enhancing network performance.
Conducting network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
Configuring and installing various network devices and services (Routers, Switches, IP addresses, VLANs, routing protocols, MPLS, VPN, QoS).
Monitoring resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning for systems.
Providing Level 2/3 support and troubleshooting to address issues (including diagnosing network problems, analyzing logs, and implementing solutions).
Adhering to established configuration and change management policies.
Assisting in network design and implementation.
Troubleshooting challenges related to network deployment.
Identifying potential failures and suggesting solutions.
Collaborating with vendors and other IT staff for problem resolution.
Updating the knowledge base with known errors.
Requirements and Skills
Demonstrated experience in a network administrator position.
Strong knowledge and troubleshooting abilities with SD WAN, LAN segmentation, Cisco Switches, Cisco Wireless Access Points, Cisco Wireless Controllers, Cisco Routers, and Riverbed Bandwidth Optimizers.
Maintaining the design of LAN/WAN, including protocols and routing.
Proven hands-on experience in networking, routing, and switching.
Comprehensive understanding of network operating systems (JUNOS and Cisco IOS).
Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently.
In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF).
Strong understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP Model.
Experience with the remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution of Internet VPNs is preferred.
Hands-on experience with network diagnostic and analytics tools.
Keeping current with the latest networking technologies and best practices.
