The Opportunity

We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager who will be responsible for leading a team of engineers who are inventing and delivering functionality across Adobe's suite of creative products that radically simplifies typographic decisions and processes for our users. Typography has been at Adobe's core since it was founded almost 40 years ago. Today, we have millions of Creative Cloud users who design with text across our apps. Designing high impact text is one of the most important aspects of beautifully designed work, but it's also one of the most complicated and least understood areas of design. The Adobe Fonts & Type team's goal is surfacing the power of fonts along with smart and intuitive typographic tools to make type simple.

What you'll do
  • Cultivate a creative, diverse, and strong-cultured web development engineering team through mentorship and personal career growth support of the individuals on your team.
  • Drive research and development efforts at the intersection of Generative AI and Typography.
  • Actively collaborate with counterparts in Product Management, User Experience, Research, and Program Management to develop milestones that fit into a roadmap and timeline for your team.
  • Identify gaps in your team's ability to execute on goals and fill those gaps through partnerships with other Adobe teams and through recruiting.
  • Lead a mix of projects ranging from building experimental prototypes based on partnerships with Adobe Research and Firefly teams, to release quality software at scale.
  • Embrace and extend modern development practices, testing methodologies, and tooling to ensure quality and performance in all phases of development
  • Coordinate solutions horizontally with desktop and mobile offerings across Creative Cloud.
  • Anticipate issues, suggest solutions, and partner with fellow managers to provide your team the best opportunities for success

What you'll need to succeed
  • Excitement toward building the future of global typography tools.
  • Experience in state-of-the-art Generative AI technologies, such as GAN and/or diffusion models.
  • Experience with machine learning (ML) frameworks such as Scikit Learn, TensorFlow, Pytorch
  • A track record of leading and growing successful engineering teams to deliver results in a complex and fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Demonstration of strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience building front-end applications using reusable components at scale.
  • Experience building rapid prototypes and iterating on prototypes given customer feedback.
  • A solid understanding of how web, desktop, and mobile applications are built.
  • Strong ability to communicate and collaborate with engineers, researchers, designers, and product managers.
  • A minimum of ten years of proven experience including five years of engineering leadership experience.
