Manual Quality Assurance Specialist - San Antonio, TX

Join our dynamic team as a Manual Quality Assurance Specialist where you'll play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional software products that exceed client expectations. This direct hire position offers the opportunity to work on diverse development projects while ensuring rigorous testing standards and seamless implementation processes.

responsibilities:
Lead Testing Excellence Shape the quality landscape by developing comprehensive test strategies, executing detailed test scripts, and coordinating multi-phase testing initiatives including integration, system, performance, and user acceptance testing. You'll be instrumental in maintaining our commitment to delivering defect-free products on time and within budget.
Drive Project Success Collaborate with cross-functional teams during requirements gathering and design reviews, translating business needs into robust testing frameworks. Your expertise will guide the creation of detailed test cases while ensuring adherence to critical quality assurance milestones throughout the project lifecycle.
Manage Quality Operations Take ownership of defect tracking and regression testing across multiple applications and systems. You'll maintain comprehensive testing databases, analyze test outcomes, and provide actionable insights through data collection and interpretation that directly impact product quality decisions.
Lead Team Coordination Organize testing assignments, manage team workflows, and ensure deadline adherence while fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement and quality excellence.
qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
- Relevant certifications (ISTQB, CSTE, or similar) preferred but not required
- 5+ years of hands-on manual testing experience
- Experience with full software development lifecycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies
- Proven track record in test case design, execution, and defect management
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with test management tools (TestRail, Zephyr, qTest, or similar)
- Experience with defect tracking systems (Jira, Bugzilla, Azure DevOps)
- Knowledge of different testing types (functional, regression, integration, UAT, performance)
- Understanding of database concepts and basic SQL queries
- Familiarity with API testing tools (Postman, REST clients)
Testing Methodologies
- Strong understanding of test planning and strategy development
- Experience with Agile/Scrum development environments
- Knowledge of test documentation standards and best practices
Technical Environment
- Experience testing web applications, mobile apps, and desktop software
- Basic understanding of HTML/CSS for web application testing
- Familiarity with multiple operating systems (Windows, Mac, mobile platforms)
Nice-to-Have
- Exposure to automation testing concepts
- Experience with performance testing tools
- Knowledge of security testing fundamentals
- Previous experience in your specific industry or domain
