Role Overview:
TECHNOLOGIES is currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineer with a valid P.Eng (Professional Engineer) certification in Canada. The successful candidate will lead and contribute to I&C design and engineering for complex energy, petrochemical, and sustainable infrastructure projects across the Canadian and global market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and specification of field instrumentation, control valves, analysers, and safety systems (SIS).
- Develop and review key engineering deliverables: Instrument Index, I/O Lists, Loop Diagrams, Cable Schedules, Datasheets, and Control Narratives.
- Configure and integrate DCS, PLC, SCADA, and SIS systems from major OEMs (Emerson, Siemens, Honeywell, ABB, etc.).
- Perform system architecture design for control and communication networks.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian engineering codes and international standards (ISA, CSA, NFPA, IEC, API).
- Coordinate with process, electrical, and mechanical disciplines to ensure integrated design.
- Review and approve vendor documents, FAT procedures, and test protocols.
- Provide technical support for procurement, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Participate in HAZOP, SIL verification, and control system safety analysis.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Control Systems Engineering.
- P.Eng registration in Canada (PEO, APEGA, EGBC, or other provincial association).
- 8 15 years of experience in I&C design for oil & gas, refining, petrochemicals, or process industries.
- Hands-on experience in specifying and configuring DCS/PLC/SCADA/SIS systems.
- Familiarity with Canadian electrical/instrumentation codes and hazardous area classifications.
- Strong understanding of control loop design, P&ID development, and functional safety.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in greenfield and brownfield projects across FEED, detailed design, and EPC phases.
- Exposure to decarbonization, hydrogen, carbon capture, or renewable energy projects.
- Knowledge of digital transformation in control systems (IIoT, Industry 4.0).
- Experience leading global workshare teams and mentoring junior engineers.
